Check out our 2019 VW Tiguan vs 2019 Toyota RAV4 comparison to learn how the new VW Tiguan outperforms the 2019 Toyota RAV4 in different aspects.

Warranty

VW TIguanToyota RAV4
4 yr/80,000 km (basic)

3 yr/60,000 km (basic)

Volkswagen’s basic manufacturer warranty has a longer coverage period compared to Toyota’s warranty period which means that our customers are more financially protected under Volkswagen’s basic warranty.

Performance

The 2019 VW Tiguan is equipped with a robust 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged TSI engine, which delivers an impressive 221 lb-ft of torque for speedy acceleration.

In contrast, 2019 Toyota RAV4’s 2.5-liter Dynamic Force 4-cylinder engine only churns out 184 lb-ft of torque which prevents RAV4 drivers to accelerate as quickly as VW Tiguan drivers.

Safety

The 2019 VW Tiguan is an incredibly safe SUV and comes standard with a myriad of safety features.

The new VW Tiguan has a Crash Response System, which unlocks the doors, turns on the hazard lights, and turns off the fuel pump if the vehicle is involved in an accident. This feature is not found in the Toyota RAV4.

The new Tiguan also comes standard with the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System; this system applies a brake on the VW Tiguan after a collision to avoid a secondary impact on an object or person. About 25% of all accidents involving personal injuries are collisions occurring after the initial accident.

The VW Tiguan also offers available driving assistance technologies such as the Lane Keeping System and Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert.

The Lane Keeping System works to recognize lane markings using a rearview-mounted camera. This system alerts you when you begin to veer outside of your lane without using a turn signal by gently correcting your steering.

The Blind Spot Monitor uses two radar sensors, located on the left and right back bumpers of the vehicle. When these sensors detect that an object is located within the range of the driver’s blind spot, it alerts the driver by flashing a “blind spot” LED light warning signal on the left and right side view mirrors. It works alongside Rear Traffic Alert, which can detect oncoming traffic before it enters the range of your blind spot.

Interior

Another advantage of the 2019 Tiguan is its spacious interior; with up to a 7-person seating capacity and maximum cargo capacity of 73.5 cu-ft. In contrast, the 2019 Toyota RAV4 only has a 5-person seating capacity and a maximum cargo capacity of 69.8 cu-ft.

Winner? Clearly the 2019 VW Tiguan. This compact SUV comes with a longer warranty period, safety features not available with the Toyota RAV4, and more interior space for your passengers!
